Baa Baa
Baa Baa was truly our most beloved sheep. Baa Baa was purchased as a wether, (castrated lamb), in 1999. Something went amiss as he fathered a set of twins in 2002 and 2003. He was a purebred, but unregistered Romney. Baa Baa roamed our farm as if he were a dog. He loved David and followed him everywhere! Friends or family would drop by and Baa Baa would run towards them when they got out of their car. They were terrified until they were informed that he was only running towards them to get his back scratched or chin rubbed! Baa Baa is the only sheep I have owned in the past 20 years that liked to be brushed, scratched all over, hugged by a two year old and came when we called him. Baa Baa died unexpectedly on March 26, 2006.
This is Peaches. She is a registered Romney ewe that Ann purchased in 1998. She is very sweet. She is a good mother and delivered twins in 2002 and 2003. Baa Baa was the father. Three of her four lambs were sold to hand-spinners who wanted to keep them for the wool they produced. The fourth lamb, Maple,is still at Windfall Farm.
This is Ivy. She is a registered Border Leicester ewe. Ann and David purchased her in June, 2005. They want to obtainfleeces that have the best qualities from both the romney and border leicester breeds. They are looking for fleeces with a medium staple, good crimp, high luster and softness.
This is Maple. She is oblivious to everything around her unless you have carrots in your pocket. She is the daughter of Baa Baa and Peaches and was born in 2002.
This is Henrietta! She was born March 27, 2006. Her mother is Peaches and her father is, Bruno, a Romney/Border Leicester cross. Due to complications, she had to be bottle fed, hence her being in the house. Henrietta is now two years old and still resides at Windfall Farm.
This is Henry, Henrietta's twin. He, too, was bottle fed. He had Baa Baa's personality. He loved attention!
Maple gave birth for the first time to a set of twins on April 16, 2006. Pictured here is Richard; just a few days old. He has just turned two and is a big boy now! Quite handsome! He changed from a fiesty teenager to a mellow gentlman. He and Bruno are great friends! Very unusual for two rams.
This is Hyacinth, Richard's twin. She is so sweet and comes running when she sees us! She, too, is all grown up!
These pictures were taken when the lambs were only 2 days old. Hyacinth had sharp little baby teeth that her mother did not appreciate. She was supplemented with a bottle when she was three weeks old. She is quite friendly! We raise our sheep for their wool and the hand-spinner. Our great-niece, Sydney, age 3 at the time of this photo, comes to visit often. Here she is feeding Henry a bottle.

Sydney was so excited to see the daffodils blooming. Henrietta wanted to eat them!
